Family Fun 3 Night Itinerary

Designed to keep the kids off screens, this three-night itinerary offers plenty of time for kids to be active and parents to relax. Make some memories and soak it in...
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival + Road Trip Recovery
Whether you are travelling by car, bus, plane, or train, the kids will be ready to burn off some energy while you relax after the journey. Take time to unpack and settle into your accommodation before heading to the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre for the kids to enjoy a splash while you soak in our famous Artesian Waters. The canteen offers ice-creams, hot chips and an all-important cup of coffee to help you rejuvenate.
Day 2: On your bike
Today is your chance to explore Moree with a bike ride or family stroll around our beautiful riverside paths. After breakfast, head to the Visitor Information Centre. Here you can hire bikes for the family and pick up our On Your Bike guide to Moree.
Start the adventure with a short pedal to the Jellicoe Park Open Spaces Aboriginal Art Trail. The Trail features sculptural installations by local Gamilaroi artists who have reinterpreted the traditional art of tree carving. If you are interested in learning more about Gamilaroi Culture, we recommend booking a Bush Tucker and Cultural Tour with Yinarrma, run by Gamilaroi woman and native grains expert Kerrie Saunders. Kerrie regularly leads tours for school groups and offers wonderful cultural insights for all ages.
There's plenty for the kids to explore, touch and play around the park before you continue your ride around the banks of the Mehi. The paved Mehi River shared path is a 3.5km loop that will take you past swimming holes and playgrounds. Take your time, stop for a photo with wildlife, including our resident ducks and geese, or enjoy the newly installed play and exercise equipment along the track.

After your morning on the bikes, you'll be ready to refuel with lunch at the Amaroo Tavern. Here, the adults can enjoy their meal and the kids can enjoy the beer garden’s playground, connected to a decommissioned C47 Dakota plane. Sit in the cockpit and let your imagination fly!
It’s been a busy day already so we suggest returning to the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre for more time playing and soaking in the soothing water. Grab a takeaway meal from New Bo Wa or Golden Taste Thai on the way back to your accomodation. We guarantee the kids will sleep soundly!

Day 3: More to Explore
We suggest filling up with breakfast at Cafe Gali, part of the Aboriginal Employment Strategy. The Cafe trains young Aboriginal people in hospitality and is connected to the Yaama Ganu Gallery. The Gallery displays the work of local Gamilaroi artists as well as exhibitions from Aboriginal-run art centres around Australia.
Yaam Ganu is also the first stop on the Moree Mural Trail. Use our interactive map to explore the murals that add colour to the Moree township. Can you get a photo with them all? Stop at the Moree Gallery and Bank Art Museum Moree to see their ever-changing exhibitions of regional art.
Don’t forget to share your pics on social media using #mymoree.

Head further afield - pick up a picnic lunch from Moree Bakehouse or Le Courtyard Bakery and drive 20km east on the Gwydir Highway to Tareelaroi Weir. This drive takes you past prime farmland to a picturesque river bank perfect for watersports of all kinds. In summer you will see plenty of action from waterskiiers, wakeboarders, and jetskis. In the cooler months, this is a tranquil haven for fishing, kayaking, and a family picnic.
On the way back to town, take the short detour to the weir itself for a photo from this higher vantage point.
To finish the day, take to the warm artesian waters again before enjoying a delicious final dinner. We suggest venturing to the Moree Golf Club to see the beautiful riverside course. The kids can play on the top green while you watch the sun set on a great family holiday.

Day 4: Farewell
Time for one last soak in the healing artesian waters before you depart Moree. Let the kids work out their energy in the pools while you reset for the journey. Wherever you are going, we hope you leave Moree rested and ready for your next adventure.
